A seminar on war field surgery, hosted by the Sultanate represented by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), will start at Khoulah Hospital on Thursday.
About 60 surgeons and health professionals will take part in the seminar, which aims to train Omani surgeons on field surgeries during relief operations, and boost their medical skills related to treatment and surgeries of those injured at war.
The lectures, given by ICRC senior surgeons, will cover the importance of surgery in general, the war surgery major and the activities of ICRC around the world.
ICRC, which is subsidised by the Sultanate, funds the humanitarian relief aids in Yemen since 2015. Throughout its logistics centre in Salalah, the Committee has managed to facilitate the transport of more than 11,000 tonnes of foodstuff to Yemen.
ICRC has organised more than 250 seminars in different parts of the world since 1989 due to its almost 40-year long experience in war surgeries.
