Six firms join Sas Centre for entrepreneurship

The Information Technology Authority (ITA) celebrated the incubation of six new companies, which joined Sas Centre for entrepreneurship recently.

Sas is a specialised centre launched in 2013 to create and incubate the emerging Omani companies in ICT sector.

The incubated companies are provided with various services and facilities including an office in the Knowledge Oasis, Muscat, technical consultancies, in addition to accounting, financial, marketing and legal services.

Hassan Fida Allawati, Director General of Digital Society Development Division, said: “e.oman Strategy focuses on developing the IT sector which is one of its most important pillars. Hence, Sas Centre was established with the aims of encouraging the emerging Omani companies, incubating their talents and urging them to be entrepreneurs and to utilise their skills.”

“Since its launch, the centre incubated 38 SMEs which signed a number of contracts with many government and private entities inside and outside the Sultanate, reaching up to 2.40 million rials,” he explained.

He further added, “Sas welcomes all talented and enthusiastic youth who want to produce innovative IT solutions. We also urge the new incubated companies to benefit from the incubation period and from the provided services and facilities.”

The newly incubated companies include: ‘Birwaz’, an Omani company specialised in event management, digital marketing and tourism promotion, ‘Baisah’ Integrated Enterprise, an Omani company specialised in the field of eCommerce, ‘Xproject’ company specialised in IT consulting services, supplying IT products, software, networking solutions, graphic design and websites development and technology and space company, which aims at starting the space field in the Sultanate and developing the modern technology field.

In addition to it, ‘Mashhad’ company, which offers a wide range of Concept Design Services such as architectural and internal design, ‘Mandoob’ company, which provides parcels delivery services through integrated logistics system that  serves the SMEs, ‘Metamorph’ company, which is a software development company, offering web and mobile development services that are specifically catering to SMEs and startups within the GCC market, and ‘Tarish’ films which is an Omani company specialised in the production of video content, development of creative ideas, and production management.

‘Modern communications software’ is an online eCommerce platform called hadaya.om, serving flowers, sweets and cakes from various Omani vendors to support SMEs. SAS centre is the first specialised centre that aims at incubating the emerging projects and companies in ICT field, encouraging the entrepreneurs to establish IT projects and attract local and international investments in this field.

It also aims to provide job opportunities for the citizens and encourage them to enter the field of self-employment and entrepreneurship and produce some IT products instead of importing them.
