It was 130 women employees from the public sector who were felicitated as part of the graduation ceremony of Springboard, a women by women  initiative of the Ministry of Civil Service, the British Council and Ooreedoo.

Held under the patronage of Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources HE Ahmed Bin Abdullah Al Shuhi, the participants were honoured as the Phase 5 of the programme came to a conclusion, raising the total number of graduates to 553 since 2016.

Developed by women for women of all ages, the programme continues to translate a memorandum of understanding signed among Ooredoo, the ministry and the British Council, to drive women empowerment into action. The programme aims to develop self-confidence, and independence in women.

During the intensive course comprising four days of workshops and brainstorming, women from across the Sultanate received essential skills training and applied them to an exciting project development course.

The participants were tasked with creating a project under the theme ‘digital’ and the winners of the top six projects got an opportunity to showcase their efforts at the ceremony.  An expert committee later adjudged the three best programmes.

Director of government relations and corporate affairs Raed Dawood said, “Since the inception of the programme, participants from all over the world have reported exciting changes in their lives, greater confidence and skillsets to move forward professionally.”
