Visitors to Salalah will have a new experience passing through the international airport where photographs of the rare flora and fauna will be on display.
‘Nature in Focus’ is an exhibition running from August 14 to 25 organised by the Oman Animal and Plant Genetic Resources Centre in partnership with Oman Airports Management Company. It will feature large format photos offering rarely seen images of the Sultanate’s stunning biodiversity.
Thanks to its varied climatic conditions, size and geography, Oman has been blessed with a treasure trove of vibrant biodiversity which spans the entire animal, plant and marine worlds, both domesticated and wild. “Indeed, the Sultanate is home to one of the richest and most productive ecosystems in the world,” says centre executive director Dr Nadiya Al Saady who is also the organiser of the photography exhibition.
The collection of 30 images takes viewers on a visual journey where exotic birds and elusive starfish to hard-working carpenter ants and gazelles are on display. There are also photographs of micro-organisms living on shower curtains.
