Professor Rajiv Kohli, one of the leading Information systems (IS) scholar, conducted a workshop and seminar at SQU recently.
He was on a research visit to SQU from October 2 to 7 in connection with an SQU grant project titled ‘Developing a Strategic Framework for ICT Investments in Omani Financial Institutions’.
The project is and co-investigated by Dr Kamla Al Busaidi and Dr Saeed Al Muharami at the college of Economics and Political Science (CEPS).
As part of his visit, Kohli gave a workshop and seminar in addition to the consultancy meetings for the research project.
He also met Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate and Research Dr Rahma Al Mahrooqi.
Kohli gave a workshop titled ‘How to [do research to] Publish in Leading Journals’. The workshop was co-organised with the SQU centre for community service and continuing education.
Through the centre, several Omani IS researchers from other colleges and universities in Oman were invited to attend the workshop.
The workshop aimed to discuss the best practices that lead to good quality research and observations to improve the chances of success in publishing research in leading academic journals.
Kohli gave a seminar on ‘Pursuing Business Value of Information Systems: When, Where and How?’
Dr Kamla Al Busaidi, Head of the Information Systems Department, said it was a great honour to host Kohli in SQU.
“His visit and his enriching discussions and activities was inspirational and added great value to the project, the department, the college and the community,” she said.
Kohli is the John N. Dalton Memorial Professor of Business in the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary.
